Baby Pizza

It can be a struggle to try to jazz up the baby finger food menu at the best of times, let alone after a full day at work and maybe a headache thrown in for good measure. I personally find that a lot of waste can be generated if I am not careful as I may make a cheese sandwhich for my child whilst cutting up a banana and some bits of ham, for example. Quite a lot of it ends up in my hair/her hair/the carpet/in the bin after it has been sucked and dribbled on so much that it is barely recognisble. I am bored of churning out boring meals because I don't always have time to make interesting stuff during the week. It is not like the good old days where I could defrost my pureed casseroles etc. This little girl will only accept food from her own tiny fingers. God help anyone who may approach with a spoon.

Anyway, my mother passed on a recipe to me last week and assures me that I was rather partial to these delights as a small child. Crumpet Pizzas! Apparently, great to cut into pieces, great to freeze and easy on the sore gums of our bairns.

Nice Price

Every one of us has been affected by the recession. For those of us who once upon a time afforded themselves the odd weekend away in Malaga on a cheap deal, in November will know that once that plane lands on Spanish soil, the Euro makes it a very expensive trip indeed! Everything seems to cost more these days and clothes are no exception. Well, even if they don't nescessarily cost more, we just cannot afford them anymore.

Since all this kicked off, CERTAIN highstreet fashion retailers have truly come into their own. For a tenner, one can walk out with a monochrome smock, a pair of nautical flats and some chunky jewelry. A similar outfit from a couple of doors down may cost ten times as much, at least. So yes - we can walk round dressed like Gok Wan's new best friends without breaking the bank. But - as my father once told me - you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. So what eggs get broken in order to make this omelette????

Green Parenting and Feminism?

Today in Nice (France), I was lucky enough to meet an avid eco parent who is involved with several local green parenting projects.
As we of course shared this interest, we spent quite a while talking and then came onto the subject of feminism and the idea that green parenting could be seen as 'taking a step backwards' for feminism.
A french feminist recently touched on what she believes to be 'pressure' on mothers to be stay-at home earth mothers (link to article below).

I personally believe eco parenting does not have to be time consuming, expensive or even take away female freedom, if anything I think eco parenting can be more liberating for mothers if it well managed and sustainable.
Many of my female friends who recycle and acquire used baby items use the money that they have saved to invest in more 'me time' and trips out with friends.
